Purpose | The instruction in this subcourse includes information needed to successfully complete the written, written performance, and performance examinations for combat lifesaver certification and recertification. This material is for information only and does not include instructor materials. It is part of the Combat Lifesaver Course, which is taught in Group Study mode. To receive credit for completion of the Combat Lifesaver Course, enrollment must be made through your military unit in accordance with AR 350-1. This subcourse replaces IS0824 Combat Lifesaver Buddy-Aid Tasks, and IS0825 Combat Lifesaver Medical Tasks. |

Target Audience |
Any eligible person may enroll as a participant in the Combat Lifesaver Course group study enrollment. |

Contents | The subcourse contains the following parts: |
Lesson 1: PERFORMING TACTICAL COMBAT CASUALTY CARE. Lesson 2: EVALUATING A CASUALTY Lesson 3: OPENING AND MANAGING A CASUALTY'S AIRWAY Lesson 4: TREATING PENETRATING CHEST TRAUMA AND DECOMPRESSING A TENSION PNEUMOTHORAX. Lesson 5: CONTROLLING BLEEDING Lesson 6: INITIATING A SALINE LOCK AND INTRAVENOUS INFUSION Lesson 8: REQUESTING MEDICAL EVACUATION (MEDEVAC) Lesson 9: EVACUATING A CASUALTY USING A SKED OR IMPROVISED LITTER. Appendix: COMBAT LIFESAVER MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SET. |

Enrollment Eligibility |
The Army Correspondence Course
Program subcourses
are available to U.S. Active and Reserve military officers, warrant
officers,
and enlisted personnel; Reserve Officers' Training Corps, National
Guard
Officer Candidate School, West Point cadets, and authorized federal
civilian
employees.
Military personnel must have enough time remaining in service to complete the course/subcourse(s) in which they request enrollment. Note: For detailed eligibility requirements see the course listing found on the AIPD LOGON/REGISTER web site. |
